Welcome to Our School
University Preparatory School
The university Preparatory School of Glisten International Academy was established in September 2011 with the aim of preparing students or candidates for international examinations to enable them adequately fit into the increasing requirements of reputable universities, and colleges worldwide.
At the University Preparatory School, we embrace the International Policy of Glisten International Academy.
Approval by International Examination Boards
In recognition of our commitment to academic excellence, Edexcel Ltd, a member of UK based Joint Council for Qualifications and a Pearson Company has granted our school approval to conduct and administer International General Certificate of Secondary Education Examinations from June 2012. We achieved this during the first year of our existence. Our students, students from other schools and independent candidates can now register and sit Edexcel International GCSE here at Glisten.
Cambridge International Examinations
Like Pearson Edexcel, the British Council in 2014 approved our school as Cambridge International Examinations centre to offer Cambridge Secondary 1 with Cambridge Checkpoint, Cambridge IGCSE, Cambridge AS/A Level, and Cambridge AICE.
THE COURSES WE OFFER!!!
Two- year IGCSE prep course
International General Certificate of Secondary Education (International GCSE) is a qualification aimed at learners aged 14-years-plus and is available in nearly 40 subjects. We advise our students to take 6 subjects relevant to their field of studies including English as a Second Language and Mathematics (Specification A or B).
This qualification is specifically designed for international learners and is recognized by education institutions across the world.
Although the qualifications are academic, International GCSE prepares learners for both vocational and academic study at UK Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) Level 3.
This course is open to students in Year 10 (SS I or Grade 10), who will later sit the Edexcel International GCSE Examination during the first term of Year 12 (SS III or Grade 12) class.
One- year IGCSE prep course
This course is designed for students in Year 11 (SS II or Grade 11) who have shown a high level understanding of the contents of the subjects taken while in Year 10 class. Students in this programme are eligible to sit the Edexcel International GCSE Examination during the first term of Year 12 (SS III or Grade 12) class.
PSAT and SAT prep courses
The PSAT is recommended for our Year 10 (SS I or Grade 10) students, who will later progress to The SAT prep class while in Year 11 (SS II or Grade 11) or Year 12 (SS III).
The SAT is the most widely used admission test among colleges and universities. Nearly all colleges and universities in the United States, US territories, and Canada accept and use the SAT as part of the admission process. The SAT is also required by some universities in other continents including Asia, Australia, and Europe.
SAT subject tests prep course
The SAT Subject Tests are one-hour multiple-choice tests that measure how much the student knows about a particular academic subject and how well he can apply that knowledge.
Some schools require or recommend SAT Subject Tests as part of the admission process to assess a student’s academic preparation for college or university while some use them for placement or to advise a student in picking course subjects and levels.
The following subjects are offered in our SAT Subject Tests prep course: Biology (E/M), Chemistry, Mathematics (Levels 1 & 2), and Physics.
This is open to Year 12 students.
TOEFL/IELTS/PTE prep course
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), International English Language Testing System (IELTS), and Pearson Test of English (PTE) are all acceptable English proficiency tests by universities and colleges around the world.
These tests are not only admission requirements, but visa requirements from boarder agencies and embassies. Some universities require students to take any of the tests while some prefer a particular test to others.
Some organizations also require their prospective employees whose native language is not English to take one of these tests to show proficiency in English.
TOEFL/IELTS/PTE preparatory course is a one month programme recommended for Year 12 (SS III or Grade 12) students.
